The Lord is my rock,
my fortress, and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation,
my stronghold and my refuge,
my savior; you save me from violence.
-2 Samuel 22:2,3
In a song of praise, David worships the Lord, recognizing God's character and attributes, abilities and works. Today, let David lead you in a time of praise for your God. Consider each phrase in his song and reflect on how God has worked in your life.
The Lord is my rock. Strong, steady, firm, unbreakable.
My fortress. A place of protection from harm, a strong place against the outside world that seeks to destroy.
My deliverer. God rescues us from harm and difficulty and brings us into peace.
My rock in whom I take refuge. God alone provides the strength we need to live above the fray, to get through the day.
My shield. Nothing can get to us without permission of God who keeps us from being hit by the world's ammunition.
My stronghold and my refuge. God is a place to go to replenish our supplies, to build our resources, to experience perfect safety and protection.
My Savior who saves me from violence. God lifts us out of the violent mire of our world and holds us close.
Strength, security, stability, peace-all are available to you in God. Today.
