Fairfax earned her bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and her M.Div. degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, on whose board of trustees she serves.
She earned her doctor of ministry degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.
Before coming to First Presbyterian in Ann Arbor, she served as senior pastor of Highland Presbyterian Church in Louisville, KY. She also has served as pastor and associate pastor at churches in Texas and Tennessee.

God’s forgiveness is freely offered us, Jesus' parable in Matthew 18 tells us, but Dr. Fairfax Fair says gratitude is a learned trait that requires us to get outside ourselves. Gratitude requires recognition of another’s grace-filled offering, or another’s doing something for us and our accepting it with humility.
