'Day1' Receives Production Grant from Odyssey Networks
Odyssey Networks, a multi-faith media organization based in New York City, has granted the Alliance for Christian Media $15,000 to produce a series of short-form videos for use on the web and on Odyssey's smartphone app, "Call on Faith." The Alliance produces the national ecumenical radio program "Day 1," which airs weekly on 200 stations across America, in 8 countries outside the U.S., and on the Internet at Day1.org.
The grant will help cover the production costs for a new video series called "What Is God Saying to You Today?" These 26 two-minute messages will feature "Day 1" host and executive producer Peter Wallace, who has written eight books of devotional meditations.
The segments will be available on the Day1.org website, OdysseyNetworks.org, and several other websites. Plans also call for their inclusion in Odyssey's new "Call on Faith" smartphone app, which makes available a variety of video segments from religious groups. For more on the app, visit www.callonfaith.com.
Joining Wallace in the production will be the Rev. Canon Louis C. Schueddig, president of the Alliance, who will serve as producer and director; Donal Jones, audio engineer; and Simon Cowart, information technology manager. The segments will be produced in the first half of 2011.
"We are deeply grateful for this generous grant from Odyssey Networks, with whom we've had a strong relationship over many years," Schueddig said. "We are eager to get started on this exciting new series of videos, which we hope will meet the spiritual needs of a broad audience."
This year Odyssey has distributed grants totaling $335,000 to 17 religious organizations. Odyssey Networks is the nation's largest multi-faith coalition dedicated to producing and distributing media that builds bridges of understanding among people of different beliefs and perspectives. Established in 1987, Odyssey Networks is a service of the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, Inc. For more information visit www.odysseynetworks.org.
