Day1 Benefit Honored Atlanta Community Leaders of Faith
The annual benefit dinner for the Alliance for Christian Media and the Day1 ministry took place on Tuesday evening, March 2, at the Piedmont Driving Club, Atlanta at 7:00 p.m.
This year’s event—emceed by WSB’s Scott Slade—honored leaders in the Atlanta Community who are well known for their commitment to the good of our community, but who may have not been recognized for their deep commitment to their church and the religious community. Representatives from each of the participating denominations on Day1 were recognized. The event supported our very important ministry, Day1 (formerly The Protestant Hour).
This year's honorees were:
Madeline and Howell Adams, Jr. - former CEO, Georgia Trane
Bill Bolling - Executive Director, Atlanta Community Food Bank
S. Truett Cathy - CEO & Founder, Chick-fil-A
Sally and Paul Rosser – Founder, Justice Systems & retired Chair, Rosser International, Inc.
Nancy Gordy Simms - President, The Varsity
Andrew Young – former Ambassador to the United Nations, Congressman, and Mayor of the City of Atlanta
We also celebrated the 65th anniversary of Day1 with a special presentation by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Lane Butts. In 1945 leaders of several major denominations and church-related colleges and seminaries came together with the goal of spreading the Good News of God’s love and justice through radio. Every week since then, Day1 has presented compelling sermons from the most accomplished preachers from across America. We continue to work together with preachers, churches, and denominations to share God’s word on the radio and online—bringing faith and hope to hundreds of thousands of people around the world.
