Day1 Benefit with Dr. Tom Long - March 24th 2009
Day1 Benefit Honors Atlanta Community Leaders of Faith
Six well-known Atlantans were recognized at the annual benefit dinner for the Day1 radio program (formerly called The Protestant Hour), a ministry of the Alliance for Christian Media. The event, Tuesday evening, March 24, at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead, drew more than 200 people.
Dr. Thomas G. Long, Bandy Professor of Preaching at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, spoke of the importance of Day1 as the voice of the mainline churches in the media today. He also announced the launch of a $1 million fundraising campaign to restore the enormous Protestant Hour media archives from 1945-1996 and make these resources available online.

WSB-TV news anchor John Pruitt was the emcee for the evening. He introduced six leaders in Atlanta who are well known for their commitment to the good of the community, but who may have not been recognized for their deep commitment to their church and the religious community. One representative from each of Day1’s participating denominations was recognized.
